Born in Porto Alegre, graduated in Journalism from the PUC/RS, "Daina" has been active in cinema and publicity areas since 89. She began her career at the Casa de Cinema in Porto Alegre, working with Jorge Furtado in his classic Isle of Flowers."The Casa de Cinema taught me that cinema is an art performed by a group and that the director's job is to provide the proper conditions for his team to work".
In 1996, Dainara began directing her own films. Among her most important work as a director we can mention Divagações num Quarto de Hotel, a program produced for French ARTE TV; the documentary Dona Helena; short documentaries Didier, Fanta, Jigar and Verônica, which are part of the Peoples from São Paulo Project; the medium-length film Oswaldo Cruz and the short fiction film Um Homem Sério, awarded various prizes in the Brasilia and Gramado's festivals.
"Making films and commercials for me is an exercise in discovery and synthesis. Where you cannot exclude neither research nor intuition."Daina has directed more than 200 commercials for clients such as Fiat, Lycra, HSBC and Telefônica. "I'm inquisitive and like to direct different types of films. I adore author films but I also like to base myself on broader ideas and search for narrative or technical solutions for them".
