São Paulo International Film Festival announces production companies selected for “Business Encounter”

The São Paulo International Film Festival in partnership with Spcine and Cinema do Brasil announced this week the 20 Brazilian production companies selected for a “Business Encounter.” They are participating in the Market of Audiovisual Ideas which will take place on October 26 and 27 in the Jardins neighborhood of São Paulo.
Around 200 companies throughout Brazil have signed up to participate in pitching and conversations between sales agents and Brazilian and international production companies, with a total of 195 feature film projects in development registered. Those selected have been divided in the following manner: 10 projects for the International Category, or in other words, production companies that will present their ideas to international funds, co-producers, festivals and international sales agents such as CDP Productions (France), Films Boutique (France/Germany), Hubert Bals Fund (The Netherlands), Komplizen Film (Germany), Kwassa Films (Belgium), Salem Street Entertainment (USA), Under the Milky Way (France/VOD) and Urban Distribution (France). They are: Academia de Filmes (SP), Bossa Nova (SP), Coala Filmes (SP), Lacuna Filmes (SP), Gato do Parque Cinematográfica (SP), Girafa Filmes (SP), OKNA Produções Culturais (RS), Primo Filmes (SP), Solo Filmes (MG) and Syndrome Films (RJ).
10 other films have been selected for the Regional Category designed exclusively for feature films by production companies from Brazilian cities other than São Paulo. The meetings will take place with experienced production companies in São Paulo such as Gullane, O2 Filmes, Bossa Nova Films, Pródigo, Primo Filmes, Coração da Selva, Mixer, Academia de Filmes, Núcleo Movie&Art/Casa Redonda and Dezenove Som e Imagens. They are: 4U Films (RJ), 99 Produções (PE), Ausgang (RS), Chá Cinematográfico (PE), Coisa de Cinema (BA), Goiabeira Filmes (RJ), K.K. Cinema e Vídeo (RS), Rio Tarumã Filmes (AM), SeuFilme Produções Audiovisuais (RJ) and Urso Filme (PE).
The best screenwriter for these 20 selected projects will receive an award offered by the Olga Rabinovich Institute: a grant of R$30 thousand.
