A meeting was held today in the O2 Filmes headquarters in São Paulo with the directors Fernando Meirelles and Toniko, the producer Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Rede Globo’s press core. They met to discuss the planning and launching of the Som e Fúria (Sound and Fury series.
The series was produced by O2 Filmes between July and November last year, and follows a theatrical group that puts on Shakespeare plays. The plays selected for the series’ first two years are Sonhos de Uma Noite de Verão (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Macbeth, Hamlet, and Romeu e Julieta (Romeo and Juliet).
Based on the Canadian series Slings and Arrows, Som e Fúria (Sound and Fury) has a cast that includes Andrea Beltrão, Felipe Camargo, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Regina Casé, Dan Stulbach, Maria Flor, and Rodrigo Santoro, among others. The series which will have 12 episodes is directed by Fernando Meirelles, and individual episodes will be directed by Meirelles, Gisele Barroco, Fabrizia Pinto, Rodrigo Meirelles and Toniko.
