Rio de Janeiro is one of the candidate cities to host the Olympic and Para-Olympic Games in 2016. The promotional campaign presented by the Brazilian Olympic Committee includes, among other presentations, the promotional films “Passion” and “Técnico (Technical Competence)” both produced by O2 Filmes, which show the beauties of Rio de Janeiro, the facilities necessary to host the Olympics, possible locations for each of the competitions, and examples that show that Rio de Janeiro possesses the technical competence required for this task.
Representatives of the International Olympic Committee were in Rio de Janeiro last week to evaluate the Brazilian proposal. The host city for the Olympics and the Para-Olympics will be chosen in October this year.
The film “Passion” shows the beauty of Rio de Janeiro to the sound of the world renowned music of “Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City)” written by André Filho. The soundtrack is by Antônio Pinto.
Many of O2’s professionals worked on this project. Nando Olival was responsible for the overall direction of “Passion”, and César Charlone, Renato Rossi and Rodrigo Meirelles co-directed. Fernando Meirelles was the artistic director. Alexandre Ermel, César Charlone and Fábio Burtin did the photography. The film was edited by Daniel Rezende, Raimo Benedetti and his team.
